- When
- 2023 to present
Fruugo is a marketplace that sells into more than 40 countries. I have been the senior frontend engineer there since 2023, working in React and TypeScript on Java REST APIs.
Retailer onboarding
I lead the frontend of the tools that bring retailers onto the marketplace. Thousands of retailers have come through them, and the time it takes a new seller to onboard has fallen by 60%.
Finance tools
I led the frontend of the finance team’s internal tools, data-driven applications with reporting visualisations. They cut manual data processing by 40% and brought reporting cycles down from five days to two.
The component library
I migrated the component library to Ariakit, replacing custom components that were not accessible with accessible primitives. It supports right-to-left languages, and its keyboard shortcuts work on AZERTY and other layouts.
Accessibility in the team
I started the company’s accessibility group on Slack, built internal accessibility training tools, and put axe and IBM Equal Access checks into the pipeline.
Testing and agents
I introduced Vite, Vitest and Playwright. I use agents to automate end-to-end testing, and I am building a Model Context Protocol server so that they can work with the design system and the component library.
Releases
I deploy and monitor my own changes to production weekly.
